TL – 3000 Sirius wing test
Successfull certification test of TL – 3000 Sirius wing construction load
Last month a static strength test of TL 3000 Sirius wing was successfully carried out in the laboratory of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Eengineering ČVUT in Prague. The results of the tests will be applied into the certification proof of construction load for airelons, flaps and wings.

Picture 1 : Limit load for flap (flap is loaded in total 95, 1 kg, when ultimate load applied it was 142, 7 kg)
Tests were made in the following testing cases:
1) Airelon load test
2) Flap load test
3) Wing load test – max. torsion case
4) Wing load test – max. bending case
For wing bending, a hydraulic cylinder was used connected with trimming system which devided loading force according the required load calculation. The flap and the airelon were loaded with sand bags precisely scaled. In all cases the construction deformation in selected locations and real laod force were measured.

Picture 3: Flap free movement during wing load status was personally tested by LAA CZ inspector Ing.V.Chvála
During testing of wing maximal bending case the wing was after 3 seconds of presistance for ultimate load value (in order to meet all construction requirements) loaded again in purpose to determine the total construction carrying capacity. After reaching aprox. 285% of limit load (which is aprox. 60% more then it is defined in the construction requirement) there was a disturbance on the sturt hinge fitting. For your imagination at this point a total force of approx. 1, 9 tons was applied on the wing.
In all testing cases the contruction proved the transfer of limit load without permanent deformations and during ultimate load no failure has occured. Moreover the construction of the wing has shown higher strengthness than required by regulations.
